This collabo is an international affair which sees South African lyricist Spoek Mathambo team up with Brooklyn based MC Cerebral Vortex for their new release ‘Drunk Like That’ on Little Owl Recordings. Club producer and enthusiast Cobra Krames lends his talents with the beat and the EP also features remixes from Douster, Nightmare Juke Squad and Sonora. The EP is out now and can be purchased wherever fine digital music is sold.

Suprised to see the video for this come out before the actual single ‘Hard White’ with Lil’ Jon. Either way, new Yela is all good with me. Off his debut on Shady Records, ‘Radioactive’ due October 25th.

BEYONCE – 1 + 1 (VIDEO)

Even if you find her music boring when you’re as hot as she is just being in the video makes viewing it worthwhile. Beyonce got those seductive videos down pat.

GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN

Well it’s just past 12 down here, but for those living in the Northern Hemisphere it’s the 25th of August and it marks the 10th anniversary of Aaliyah’s untimely passing. It’s no secret that I’ve been a huge fan of hers since she started and like others felt like I had a connection with her through the songs she sang. Of all the songs Aaliyah did, ‘One In A Million’ would have to be one of my ultimate favourites from her and in my opinion with the help of one of the greatest, Timbaland, it changed radio. Crickets in a song, who would’ve thought? Anything was possible when it came to their collaborations. Aaliyah and Timbaland’s chemistry was one of the best things to happen to contemporary R&B music and again, in my opinion has never been matched since. I still play her songs like I did years ago and I always will. Even though she was taken from us too soon, her voice remains in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
Rest In Peace Babygirl.

The mix onslaught continues, this one coming from LA’s Disko Starz opting to use older tunes in this set but that don’t mean it won’t make you get down. Plenty of Funk for everyone in this mix. Feel good music in abundance, just how I like it.

San Diego Funksters Geisha Twins have a new EP dropping on Stardust Records next month and have whipped up a minimix featuring each of the tracks from it. The release features 2 originals from them as well as remixes from Jackie, Maddelish, Audiofunktion and Gramaphone Children. Those familiar with their previous work (and remixes) will warm to this instantly. A consistent sound from the boys which works well on the dancefloor.

Everytime I see a new mix from the homie Codes I get happy. Why do I get happy? Because I know it’s gonna be good and I’ll be sure to hear some new tunes that will appeal to me instantly. He never fails when it comes to solid mixes (type his name in the search box on here and you’ll get all the proof you need). Admittedly this mix was an exclusive for the good folks at Media Contender but it’s that good that I had to share it with those that don’t visit their blog. The mix features a bunch of new tunes, some are forthcoming from Codes’ home label Slow Roast. Keep an ear out for his remix of Craze’s ‘Dance Alone’ and one of my new favs his remix of Kill The Noise’s ‘Perfect Combination’. He even threw in some Ton in for all the Moombahnistas out there.
